The Legacy of a Beloved Librarian

The Legacy of a Beloved Librarian

Norma (Stanton) Creaghe was the Head Librarian of the Geisel Library from 1971 to 1981. A graduate of the University of Colorado and of Texas Women's College, Mrs. Creaghe was the first female senior staff member at Saint Anselm College. She greatly expanded and strengthened the library's building and collections, and stayed in touch with many staff, faculty and students after her departure.

Norma deeply respected and gently nurtured the students at Saint Anselm, most particularly its dedicated and hardworking nursing students. At her death in July 2018, Norma made a very generous $250,000 bequest to create the Norma S. and John S. Creaghe Endowed Nursing Scholarship Fund. The fund will support generations of Anselmian nurses in their studies, and will serve as the permanent legacy on the Hilltop of a beloved librarian.
